The Story Behind This Version

I had nothing.

A restaurant job that never paid fairly. Wages held hostage for a full year, shrinking with inflation until they were worth half of what I’d earned. No laptop. No way to code. The app I’d poured years into sat frozen in my mind while I fought just to survive.

When I finally got the money, I bought the only thing I could afford: a second‑hand laptop, far from powerful, but enough to restart. I sat down and, for one month, I did nothing but rebuild. No new features. No wild experiments. Just a single, obsessive goal — make the cleanest version of the app that had ever existed.

I stripped every unnecessary line of code. I tightened the database. I made the timer run without a single freeze. The home screen got an activity selector that actually felt intuitive. The calendar finally showed notes and goals in place, not just as raw entries. The settings panel remembered my preferences without fail. Every piece of the v4 stabilization was elevated into something reliable, even elegant.

I called it The Phoenix because it rose from ashes — the ashes of a lost year, of broken promises, of a machine that had died and a spirit that nearly followed. When I launched that final CustomTkinter build, I knew it was the end of an era. The design that started with STMC had reached its peak. But I also knew I had outgrown the framework.

This was the version that proved I could finish something beautiful even when life had given me every reason to quit. I still didn’t release it publicly — but I looked at it and thought: the next one will be for the world.
